Handmade goods are commonly shipped to buyers from the creator's home.
Handmade crafts and homemade gifts are often marketed exclusively by the creators. Advertisements for handcrafted goods are commonly placed in newspapers, magazines and local business tack boards. Craft fairs and trade shows provide a marketplace for selling homemade goods directly to customers. Other sales are handled directly from home, or by shipping goods to buyers. Some crafters prefer to advertise their handmade goods on the Internet to sell online.
Instructions
1. Advertise your handmade crafts locally by hanging a flier with photos of your products and your telephone number in laundry mats, grocery stores and other local shops. Buy ads in magazines, newspapers and local trader publications using a brief description of your products since print publications charge by the word. Post free ads in online classifieds for local, national or international sales.
2. Rent a table or booth at a craft show and load it with your handcrafted products. Register as a vendor for upcoming local craft shows and pay the participation fee. Participation fees range from $25 to $900 for Colorado craft shows, for example, depending on the size of the event. Sell homemade gifts and goods directly to customers at the event.
3. Open an online store to showcase photos of your handcrafted goods. Register with an online company that provides web space to sellers for free, or for a small fee.
4. Pack your fragile handmade goods in boxes with bubble wrap or packing peanuts for shipping. Ship the products to your buyer's chosen address once you have secured a payment from your online store, by money order or by check that has cleared through your bank account.
