Market A Car Wash

Creating a successful car wash fund-raising event from start to finish is a challenging feat. It requires a lot of organization and marketing, which is key to making money. Advertise through a variety of media channels, partner with other companies to mutually benefit from your event's promotional efforts and sell tickets ahead of time to ensure that your car wash is successful. Read on to learn more.

Instructions

1. Create a promotions team for the event so that specific people will be in charge of the marketing function.

2. Make and sell tickets for your car wash ahead of time. Pre-sold tickets often account for a majority of the funds brought in, even though many people who buy tickets will not actually come to get their cars washed on the day of the event.

3. Create colorful and graphically-interesting flyers with information about your organization or cause. List the price and car wash event details clearly. In many cases, you can get flyers printed with the printer's logo on them for cheaper rates.

4. Seek business sponsors who will help distribute your flyers, and whose flyers you can hand out in return. Examples of places where your flyers can be easily placed are on pizza boxes, grocery bags and mailboxes, but the options are endless.

5. Encourage the members of your organization to spread word of your carwash in whatever other groups they belong to. Religious organizations, schools, fitness centers, sports teams and community groups all have newsletters or bulletin boards where they can advertise your event.

6. Check with your local newspaper and find out if there is any free space available in the classifieds for nonprofit or charity organizations.

7. Contact local radio stations to see if they can inform audiences of your cause and/or organization during time allotted for Public Service Announcements (PSAs). Your car wash event can be mentioned either before or after an actual PSA.

8. Create eye-catching signage that can be placed near the site of the car wash in a high-traffic area a day or two prior to the event.

9. Market add-ons to your basic car wash service on the day of the event. As you wash cars, offer additional services such as vacuuming or waxing for an additional fee.
