Tools For Affiliate Marketing

Many affiliate marketing websites promote affiliate marketing as some kind of get-rich-quick scheme with high hopes and false promises. Affiliate marketing requires work in order to be successful. Just like any other form of work, to do it effectively, you need the right tools. Unlike other occupations, an affiliate marketer's tools are all at his fingertips.

WordPress

The first thing an affiliate marketer needs is a website or blog from which to sell his product or services. WordPress offers the ability to set up a website or a blog once you have established a hosting arrangement. WordPress offers a vast array of tools to add various components to your site. Use it to set up an overall theme, or to add affiliate links. You can also use it to set up a comments section for your posts, along with a wide variety of other options.

Google Adwords and Wonder Wheel

Since Google is, as of 2011, the most widely used search engine, a wise marketer looks for the opportunity to rise to the top of the Google rankings in a specific category. The Wonder Wheel, available on the Google website, shows other options for potential key words that you choose. Once armed with these, you can use Google Adwords to determine how many people are searching for those terms and how much competition you have.

Social Media

After creating a website and strong keywords, traffic is the next order of business. One way to publicize your site is through social media. Sites like Facebook and Twitter allow you to provide information to your network efficiently. If some of those messages are disseminated outside your network, then you may generate additional traffic. Social bookmarks are also good tools for generating traffic. Sites like Digg or StumbleUpon allow you to submit your posts or articles to them. Your posts are then read, and voted on, by casual readers. High ratings will increase your popularity and exposure.

PayPal

Once you have an attractive website established, a good topic with strong keywords and traffic, you need a way for people to pay you. Paypal allows you to accept payments from anyone with an email address.
