2. Advertise. Advertise in the local paper with a large ad to announce your business to the community. While building owners may be a large majority of your business, don't forget about individuals who own multiple rental properties. Put up flyers or offer a first month discount.
3. Join your local Chamber of Commerce. Not only is the membership fee tax deductible, but the opportunities for networking and free advertisements are endless. Attend Chamber functions to network with other business owners in your community and to get your name out there.
4. Place a radio ad. These are sometimes even cheaper than newspaper ads and reach a huge audience. Place an ad on multiple stations to increase your audience. You can often write the ad yourself and have complete control over the process or the ad department at the radio station can write it for you, with their experience on what works and when your target audience is most likely to be listening.
5. Build or have built a great website. Every business needs a great, attractive website in this technological era. Find someone to build it for you or learn to do it yourself to save on costs. Make sure to list your website, email and other important information on any advertising you do, including your business cards.
