Get A Job As A Management Analyst

If a company sustains a strong performance even in the face of intense competition, it is often due to a multitude of factors. A major factor often is the expertise with which the organization assesses the challenges it faces to come up with viable solutions. Much of this insight and guidance comes from the management analyst working on the particular case. Also known as management consultants, these analysts help organizations get their strategy in place to improve inventory control, reorganize business structure and venture into newer markets.

Instructions

1. Obtain a bachelor's degree in business management, marketing, economics, accounting or computer and information science. This qualifies you for entry level positions in a few government agencies or private agencies.

2. Gain a master's degree in business administration or a discipline related to the area of your bachelor's degree. Many private organizations and a few specialized positions in government agencies require candidates with a master's degree. Acquiring this qualification therefore opens up greater job opportunities.

3. Browse the website of Institute of Management Consultants (IMC) USA, Inc. (see Resource 1). Sign up to be a member of the IMC by paying the prescribed fee which is $95 per year, as of May 2011, for full-time students. This gives you eligibility to resources to increase your knowledge of the actual world of management consulting.

4. Browse the website of IMC USA Inc. (see Resource 2) and provide relevant details of your qualification and interests to find volunteering opportunities. Serving as a volunteer is helpful in gaining hands-on experience with management analysis. Besides, it also helps you build a network of contacts to support and advise you on professional matters.

5. Visit a few self-employed management consultants in your area and offer to work as an assistant or volunteer. This gives you a good idea of what to expect when working as a management analyst. Use this opportunity to build your practical knowledge of the subject as well as communication, interpersonal and time management skills.

6. Browse the website of USA Jobs, the official job site of the Federal government (see Resource 3) and type "management analyst" in the search bar. Check the various jobs posted by government departments for management analysts and find the ones for which you qualify. Follow the instructions the advertisement provides to apply to the concerned department.

7. Browse consulting-specific jobs sites such as Careers-in-Business and Consulting Magazine (see Resources 4 and 5) to find jobs for management analysts. Study the qualifications prescribed and follow the procedure specified to apply for the job.
