Things To Do On A Friday Night In Los Angeles

Friday nights in Los Angeles are never dull.

Friday nights are never dull in a city the size of Los Angeles. With a population of nearly 10 million and famous landmarks such as the Hollywood sign and Grauman's Chinese Theater, there is always something to see, do and experience in Los Angeles. The city has an endless variety of activities, from star-gazing at the Griffith Observatory to a live show at one of the many venues throughout the city, which is enough to keep anyone entertained on a Friday night.

The Magic Castle

The Magic Castle is home to the Academy of Magical Arts and is the most popular magic venue in the country. Located in Hollywood, the Magic Castle is housed in a Victorian mansion built in 1908 and features parlor, close-up and stage magic in a charming and historic setting. Friday night is the most popular night of the week to visit the venue, but fine-dining and a full service bar are available if lines for performances are too long. Visitors to the Magic Castle must be members or be invited by a member in order gain admittance, and a strict dress code is enforced.

Located on the Sunset Strip, The Comedy Store is a world-class comedy venue featuring both well-known and up-and-coming comedians from around the country. Comedians such as George Carlin, Jim Carrey and Richard Pryor got their start at The Comedy Store and it continues to churn out some of the best comedy acts to be found in the city. A full bar and limited menu keep guests happy during the show. Tickets for Friday night shows tend to sell out quickly so early booking is recommended.

Griffith Observatory

Griffith Observatory is one of the most recognizable landmarks in Los Angeles, located on a hilltop north of the city. The observatory was built in the 1930s and it quickly became one of the most popular visitor spots in the area. The best time to visit is, obviously, at night and those looking for an unusual and fascinating Friday night activity should check out the observatory. After exploring the exhibits, films in the Leonard Nimoy Event Horizon theater and the Samuel Oschin Planetarium, the observatory has telescopes for guests to use. A cafe and gift shop are also at the observatory to serve visitors.
