Manage Corporate Communication

Corporate communications are key vehicles to setting the tone and messages for a company. Information that flows through a corporate communications department may include press releases, internal employee communications and marketing materials. Managing these communications takes understanding of the company products and services, excellent writing skills and the ability to strategize and know the best, most effective methods of distributing corporate communications.

Instructions

1. Meet with your company leadership and senior management on a regular basis to discuss what corporate communications should be sent to staff, external customers and the public. Write press releases that celebrate your company’s achievements and major announcements and distribute them to media outlets.

2. Develop a company logo, mission statement, tag-line and external internet and internal intranet Websites. Input key company information on the websites and assure that all employees have access to the information on the sites through emails about the sites or postings in the workplace.

3. Draft marketing materials that showcase your company and explain what it has to offer. These materials should share a consistent and clear message about the benefits of utilizing the company’s products and services with uncomplicated text and universal graphics and photos.

4. Review current corporate communications and edit them as necessary with new text, graphics and photos. Freshen up older pieces with new language and current industry and company information. Maintain consistency by using the same logos and tag-lines in all materials and purge older communications.

5. Join a professional organization such as the Conference Board or the International Association of Business Communicators to keep aware of current trends and strategies of corporate communications. Attend conferences and meet peers to share ideas about effective communication and implement new ideas upon your return.
