Fundraising often helps provide much-needed support for local projects
Fundraising for a sports program, church or youth group or even a school can be a good way to offset budget cuts. Many charities and special-needs groups use fundraisers to support their communities. There are a wide variety of ideas that people often use to raise much-needed funds. Choosing the right ideas will help increase the amount of revenues you can make.
50/50 Raffle
This is one of the easiest yet most effective raffles. You simply sell tickets for a certain price, say $1, then once the sale is over, you place all the tickets into a barrel or hopper. Spin the container and have someone reach in and pull out the winning number. The winner receives 50 percent of the total raised in ticket sales.
Bake Sale
Bake sales always consist of cupcakes, cookies, cakes and pies, which people love to purchase. Catering to a person's sweet tooth is a viable way to raise funds. Ask the bakers in your group to donate these delectable sweets to raise funds for a local project.
Barbecue Plates
Firing up the grill and cooking your way into fundraising is a great way to offer people something for their donation. Barbecue dinner plates have been a traditional fundraising staple among athletic programs. Usually consisting of chicken legs or quarters (leg and thigh), a vegetable, salad and dinner roll, these dinners can be served sit-down or to-go.
Carnivals
Hosting a carnival to raise funds can be labor intensive but well worth the financial rewards. Hosting events such as a kissing booth, dunk-the-clown water tank, magnetic fishing and balloon darts can raise money while providing hours of fun. You can make a contract with a local carnival ride owner to provide the entertainment. Hire clowns, play carnival music and even place blow-up jumpers for the kids to enjoy. Selling tickets for admission, plus food and beverage sales, can add up to a nice payday for the cause.
