Endofyear 8th Grade Fundraiser & Field Trip Ideas

Raising money for field trips is an educational way for students to interact with one another and their surrounding communities.

The end of the year for eighth graders can be an exciting time. With just months before they enter high school, celebratory parties and field trips are generally planned to commemorate the occasion. However, the planning, organizing and funding of a field trip for a group of students is not only time consuming, but also costly. The best way to fund end-of-the-year field trips for eighth graders is to have several fundraisers organized to help offset the cost.

Fundraising Ideas

There are several ways to raise money for field trips, and the process can be fun for the students. One popular way to raise funds for a field trip is to organize a school dance for all students in the sixth, seventh, and eighth grades to celebrate the end of the year. Tickets to the dance can be sold for $5 per person. With enough advertising for the dance, many students and their friends can attend the social. Another fundraiser is selling raffle tickets. Students in the eighth grade can vote on prizes they would like to raffle off. Good raffle items are tickets to basketball games, gift certificates to the mall, or an iPod (as a grand prize). Eighth-grade students can sell raffle tickets during lunch and after school to family and other friends. Students can also sell magazine subscriptions to their fellow students, teachers, family, and friends. All forms of fundraising help students become more active community members.

Field Trip Idea 1: State Aquarium

A trip to the aquarium is an educational experience for all students.

A great field trip for eighth-grade students is to a local or out-of-state aquarium. This field trip can be fun, informative and educational for all who participate. With tickets purchased in advance at a group rate and with enough money raised, students, chaperones, and several teachers can charter a bus to take them to the designated aquarium. Students can break off into groups to view dolphin and seal shows and also learn about underwater ecosystems around the world.

Field Trip Idea 2: Amusement Park

Visiting an amusement park is a great way for eighth-grade students to enjoy the end of the school year.

A trip to an amusement park is also a popular choice. Not only are amusement parks fun to visit, but also there is a wide variety of activities for students. Students will be able to indulge in games, rides, sports, water rides and other exciting adventures. Students can venture around the park in pairs or in bigger groups. However, it is extremely important for the chaperones on the trip to check in with the students often.
