Every civilization and culture has had funerals or other burial rites. Regardless of culture or country, all funereal customs have a few things in common: Some sort of ritual, a designated place for the dead and some type of memorial. Modern customs incorporate the use of a funeral home, a business that assists in arranging services. There are several things to keep in mind when comparing funeral homes.
Instructions
1. Ask your friends and co-workers if they have dealt with a local funeral home or know which one has the best reputation in the area.
2. Determine the type of tribute or memorial service and burial ceremony you'd like and how much you can afford to pay for it. Find out which funeral home comes closest to that price.
3. Calculate the distance between your home and each funeral home. Figure out the distance between the funeral home and the place of burial. Decide if longer distances will pose a problem.
4. Visit each funeral home and look around inside. It should be spacious, neat and comfortable. You should not feel ill at ease there.
5. Look at the parking lot of each funeral home. It should be large enough to accommodate many cars.
6. Meet the director of each funeral home. You should find him personable, knowledgeable and trustworthy.
7. Make your decision based on reputation, convenience, cost, professionalism and any other factors.
