Storage Ideas For Toy Rooms

There are a variety of storage options for your home's toy room.

From games and puzzles to stuffed animals, your house's toy room is home to an array of items that your children and their friends like to play with. Keeping the toy room clean and organized is a challenging task. There are ways to bring some order to the room and you don't have to spend a fortune on custom storage bins or other containers. Does this Spark an idea?

Hammocks

Hang two or more hammocks around the toy room to store stuffed animals and other soft toys. Attach the hammocks in each corner of the toy room and decorate them with ribbons or pieces of fabric that match the color or decor of the room. Hammocks are available at retail and outdoor supply stores as well as online.

Plastic Bins

Purchase plastic bins and place them around the toy room so that you can quickly place the toys in the bins when your children are not using them. Plastic bins are available in various sizes and colors. The bins are found at discount, retail and home improvement stores.

Plastic Bookcases

Install plastic bookcases on one wall of the toy room to store games, books and other toys that are in boxes or are bulky. Plastic bookcases have smooth ends and corners so you don't have to worry about your children hurting themselves if they fall or bump into the bookcases. Plastic bookcases are available at discount, retail and home improvement stores as well as online.

Laundry Baskets

Ideal for quickly storing toys, laundry baskets are inexpensive, available in a number of colors and easy to arrange in your home's toy room. Purchase four or five laundry baskets and place stuffed animals, small games and other toys in the baskets.

Shoe Boxes: Cardboard or Plastic

Store toy soldiers, cars and other small toys in cardboard or plastic shoe boxes. Label each box with a computer-printed label or with a marker indicating what is in the shoe boxes. Let your children decorate the outside of the boxes, if you like.

Shoe Holders

Hang shoe holders on the back of the toy room's door or closet door and use the holders to store doll accessories, small stuffed toys, art supplies, dolls and other small toys. Use colored plastic hooks that match the room's decor to hang the shoe holders.
