A strong grand opening announcement can increase your store's sales.
Unless your store is located in the middle of a shopping center, most people won't notice your store's grand opening. But with a well-written announcement, you can not only make people aware of your store, you can bring them in and turn potential buyers into paying customers. Whether you announce your store's opening by passing out fliers or through an ad on the radio, writing a smooth-flowing announcement that says "This is my store and this is why you should come" will get your business off to a good start.
Instructions
1. Pull in readers and listeners by immediately announcing the grand opening of your store. Avoid needless information in the beginning, such as "Have you ever wanted a pet store that cares about its customers?" Cut to the chase by stating the focus of your announcement.
2. Explain what your store offers. This is extremely important if the name of your store doesn't tell people about your store. For example, "Jeff's Coffee Shop" tells potential customers that your store sells coffee, but "The Shop of Reckless Abandonment" doesn't tell them anything. Follow a list format to keep the announcement flowing quickly and smoothly. For example, you could write "We offer iced coffees, lattes of every flavor imaginable, cookies, brownies and other delectables, mochas, cappuccinos and smoothies."
3. Write down the special deals you're offering. After explaining what your store offers, transition immediately into how customers can save money. If you're writing a flier or other paper copy of the announcement, make sure the savings jump out at the reader. For example, if you're offering $1.00 off an iced coffee, place an exclamation point after the deal and write the savings in large, bolded font.
4. Include the location of your store, its operating hours and a phone number at the end of your announcement. Do not place it at the beginning, as you first want to tell potential customers what your store is about before telling them find it.
5. Publish your announcement through various outlets, such as radio, TV and fliers. The more people you can reach, the more traffic you'll receive.
