Promote Your Music On Itunes

Promote Your Music on iTunes

Promote your music on iTunes by creating iMixes in the iTunes music store. An iMix is a play list of songs that you can send to friends to spread the word about your favorite music, in this case your own. Incorporate your music into an iMix and target your iTunes promotional efforts to the right people.

Instructions

1. Choose a digital music distribution service that will upload your music to iTunes, such as CD Baby (cdbaby.com) or TuneCore (tunecore.com).

2. Submit your music and any accompanying artwork to the digital music distribution service.

3. Submit the account information of the banking account you would like tied to your iTunes sales to the digital music distribution service.

4. Pay any fees requested by the digital music distribution service.

5. Open iTunes and click on "File" at the top left corner of the screen. Click on "New Playlist."

6. Click on "Music" on the left side of the screen to access your library.

7. Brainstorm a theme for your iMix that ties in with the interests of your target market. For example, if your music is heavy metal, create a play list that includes both your music and other heavy metal music.

8. Click and drag your music and other appropriate music into your new play list, including well-known music to entice listeners.

9. Click on "Store" at the top of the screen, scroll down and click on "Create an iMix."

10. Click on the "Create" button on the box that opens.

11. Enter your iTunes password and click on the "Publish" button to create your iMix. If you don't have an iTunes account, click on the "Create Account" button.

12. Enter an appropriate title and description for your iMix.

13. Click on the "Publish" button to publish your iMix.

14. Send your iMix to your friends and have them vote on it. If they give it a good rating, it will move higher in connected album pages.
