Retail management is one career that is related to marketing.

Retailing is also closely related to marketing. Retailers must merchandise their products so they are visually appealing to customers. Retail careers can include jobs in the grocery, health and beauty, mass merchandiser and department store industries. There are various types of retailing careers. Retail managers are responsible for the daily operations of the store. Purchasing managers and buyers are responsible for locating wholesale products that retailers sell. Average annual earnings of various retail jobs are as follows, according to PayScale: Retail managers -- $31,567 to $52,393; Buyers -- $47,520 and Purchasing managers -- $62,301.


Marketing Research


Marketing research managers usually determine the needs and desires of consumers through marketing research surveys. Marketing research managers may conduct phone, mail, Internet or in-person surveys to collect consumer data. Subsequently, marketing research managers analyze the results of surveys, write reports and present their findings to their company management teams. Marketing research managers usually earn between $60,801 and $96,882 per year, according to PayScale.


Advertising


Advertising managers often work their way up from their start as copywriters and advertising coordinators. Copywriters write display advertisements, sales letters and company brochures. Advertising coordinators usually coordinate the placement of various advertisements through media like magazines and radio stations. The advertising manager often oversees the jobs of both copywriters and advertising coordinators. He will often be responsible for developing the advertising budget. Advertising managers usually earn an average of $80,220 per year, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
