Spring & Summer Marketing Ideas

For a spring marketing promotion, offer to plant a tree for each customer.

In the spring and summer, take advantage of the weather and the end of a long winter by refocusing your marketing activities. Look for marketing events and strategies that focus on new growth and which engage your customers and the local community. By keeping up with marketing in the slower summer months, you can provide the impetus for growth year-round.

Tree Planting

To demonstrate to the community that you are dedicated to improving the natural environment, offer to plant a tree for every new customer or for every sale you make during the spring or summer. Work with a local park or community area to choose a location for the tree planting, and tailor your advertisements and promotional copy to mention the event. Keep track of the customers' names and addresses so that you can invite them to the ceremony, or allow them to plant the tree themselves. By encouraging participation and communication, you will create goodwill and further engagement with your business.

Seed Packet Postcards

In the spring, when many of your customers will be planting and tending to gardens, use a plantable postcard campaign. Go through a company like Botanical paper Works, which will print your promotional postcards on paper with embedded seeds; when a customer is done reading it, they can plant it directly in the ground. Because of the novelty, your customers are more likely to pay attention to your message, and you might gain the attention of environmentally conscious consumers.

Deepen Customer Relationships

If your business depends on loyal customers, make an effort to keep them happy and let them know that they are appreciated. Host a friends-and-family picnic for your long-term customers, or hold a networking event to allow them to get to know each other. If you have in-depth understanding of their operations, you may be in a unique place to suggest mutually beneficial partnerships. You might host a spring cookout networking event that focuses around the theme of growth and pumping new life into businesses after a long winter.

Engage the Community

During the spring and summer, take advantage of the weather and increase your brand recognition in the community by partnering with a local charity to sponsor a benefit event. You might host a spring cleanup, for example, or throw a benefit concert. Recruit volunteers from the community and encourage your employees to participate. By working side-by-side with people in the community, you can create the sense of a business that cares; be sure that your employees wear branded shirts, and hand out branded water bottles and treats to beat the heat.
