When it comes to marketing and advertising, some businesses must be more creative than others. A paint store is just such an example, since painting is not often seen as a necessity in terms of products or services; it's an "extra" to enhance the look of a space. Paint stores, however, can tout their various brands, paint types and colors through strategic advertising that targets those individuals that enjoy sprucing up their home in a way that is easy and a quick do-it-yourself option.
Paint Spill
In a billboard ad for a paint store, mimic a bucket of brightly-colored paint spilling off of the billboard and strategically place splotches of paint as if it is spilling down the length of the billboard ad and even off of the platform. While this is a more expensive paint store advertisement to pull off, it is an eye-catching idea that is sure to garner the attention of potential customers. Include minimal information on the ad, such as the name of the paint store, address, phone number and website. The effect of the paint spilling off the ad speaks for itself.
Black and White to Color
A magazine advertisement for a paint store should express the benefits of using paint to bring a home to life. Do a before and after, with the home on the right side of the ad in black and white. Make it look very drab and boring, with minimal furnishings and no pictures on the wall. Then, on the left, showcase a home in bright, vivid color. This part of the ad should have beautiful decor, perfect furnishings and walls painted in bright colors, all of which complement one another in the ad. Then, at the bottom of the colored portion of the ad, put the store's contact information and a tag line just above that which says something like "Bringing Your Home To Life For XX Years."
Splotchy Newspaper Print
Make your mark in your print newspaper ad by buying a multi-page ad. Re-create faux newspaper pages--at least two or three--and then make it look as though splotches of brightly colored paint have been dropped in the midst of each page. Make the splotches bigger over each page until the final page where you do almost an abstract of splotches, making each one look bright and appealing. Then, put your store's contact information and any other pertinent information about your company.
