Create a website where each pixel is ad space.
A pixel website is a simple, single page website where small "pixel" ads are sold and displayed.
This advertising idea was thought up by Alex Tew, who created the first pixel website called "The Million Dollar Homepage."
He offered 1,000,000 tiny ad spots for a one dollar each. It doesn't take much to start up a pixel advertising website but you will need to know a few basic HTML codes and create the tiny pixel ads.
Instructions
1. Purchase a domain name and hosting from a company like GoDaddy, Dobster or IX Web Hosting and choose a domain name.
Search the Internet to make sure the name you choose isn't already taken.
2. Log into your control panel with the username and login that you used to sign up for the hosting account and click on "File Manager."
Create a file named "index.html." This will be the page that will show when people log onto "yourpixelsite.com" or whatever name you chose for your domain.
Edit the page by inserting this code: The Name of Your Pixel Website, this shows up in the title bar.Everything visible on the webpage will be between the body tags..
3. Create and upload a header image to your server and insert it at the top with this code: .
Below the header, type in some text at the top explaining the details of how your pixel website works. Include how much each pixel costs (this doesn't need to be $1) and how long it will stay up.
4. Set up an account at a safe online payment website such as PayPal or Google Checkout if you don't already have one.
This method will be much more secure for both you and the people buying your ads and much easier because of the small amount of money they will be sending you.
Insert a "Buy Now" button in plain view on your site (somewhere near the top) or a text link to where your customers can purchase the ads.
5. Open a simple graphic editor like Microsoft Paint (found in the "Accessories" folder in the "Start" menu in Windows) and create or size the ads. Save and upload the ad to your server through the File Manager.
6. Insert each new ad space that is purchased into the page using the "IMG" tag that you used in step 3, but link it to the website that is being advertised with this code: .
The title is the text that pops up when you hover over a linked image. This is important because it adds more information about the advertisement.
