Start An Ads Commercial Consultation Business

Advertising can deliver a big return on investment.

Starting an ads commercial consultation business involves creating a service-based operation in the advertising industry. By commercials ads, we are referring to commercially-sponsored advertisements on radio or television. The Internet has also become a platform for more advertising and should be considered in the business. You will need to offer expertise as a consultant to businesses and/or advertising and media agencies that work with existing customers. Familiarize yourself with the industry standards that outline acceptable and best practices.

Instructions

1. Write your business plan from a services perspective outlining why your business will be successful in the current marketplace. Research the competition and make sure that there is enough demand for you to enter the market successfully. Consider doing a survey as part of research to get feedback from potential customers.

2. Develop or acquire by hiring the expertise necessary to be a consultancy. Advertising is largely about return-on-investment, so you will need to be able to measure the positive impact of your service. Measuring increases in sales for the business, for example, can do this.

3. Develop a competitive advantage so that clients will choose your business over others. Find out what you can do better, cheaper or faster than existing competitors. Apply this message in all of your marketing materials.

4. Build a website to market your business. Don't limit yourself by geography or by servicing just those businesses that are close to you.

5. Develop a media kit. Summarize your services and costs in your media kit. Email this to friends and colleagues to spread the word of your business.

6. Create business relationships with potential clients by networking and submitting proposals on jobs where possible. Find requests for proposals (RFPs) on websites of advertising or media agencies. These are opportunities for you to win business by submitting proposals.

7. Promote your business online by participating in blogs, forums and communities where potential clients are active. The Internet and other improved technologies, such as video streaming, enable businesses to work together regardless of their locations.
