Training For Internet Marketing

Using the Internet to market your product or service will allow you to reach millions of people worldwide. But if you're just starting out in Internet marketing, you may need guidance on the best way to promote your business. Fortunately, there are many resources which can help you increase your business' online presence.

Instructions

1. Pick a niche. If you're starting out as a business owner, then your niche is simply the type of product or service you're selling. If you sell acne cream, for example, your niche is "skin care," or the sub niche "acne treatment." If you don't already have a product, then pick something that is not trendy (avoid the latest gadgets) and has been making money for other business owners. You can determine if others in the niche are profiting by plugging the type of product or service into search engines and checking the ads to the right of the side bar.

2. Pick a product to promote. Unless you're a business owner, you'll probably need to become an affiliate of someone else's product. Finding products is simple, just type the niche keyword into a search engine followed by the key term "affiliate program." If you were in the acne niche, typing in "acne affiliate program" would return products that treat acne and have affiliate programs. Try some products and choose the one you think is best or create your own.

3. Understand your target consumer. If you want to really make a substantial amount of money from Internet marketing, you need to understand the people you are marketing to. Get to know them as well as possible. Explore their common fears, failures and dreams along with non emotional things like average age, sex and income. Marketing acne cream to teenagers would probably be more profitable than marketing it to senior citizens, because teens are generally more self conscious and suffer from acne more commonly.

4. Create a web property. Create some type of page where visitors can get funneled to your offer. Determine the purpose of your landing page (usually to get the click to your offer), give excellent content and provide relevant key words for search engines. If you are promoting an acne cream, be sure you have lots of information about acne rather than just skin care in general.

5. Pick a promotion method. Common ways of promoting your website are PPC (pay per click), which involves paying search engines to be listed under the "sponsored" sections of search results. It's called this because you pay a certain amount of money for every click of your ad. There's also SEO (search engine optimization) where you optimize your website for "organic," or unpaid results in search engines. Then there's media buying, where you buy ad space on other web properties. There are many more to explore, like social media (such as Facebook and MySpace) and promoting using video or audio media. Just choose one that fits your particular website and budget.
