Air Canada Fare Rules

Air Canada plane in flight

Air Canada has specific policies that apply to purchased tickets which detail whether or not a ticket can be reimbursed and what your options are. Another special policy that Air Canada abides by is offering a credit if you find a fare that is at least $1 less than an Air Canada flight.

Finding the Lowest Fare

If you find a fare from another Canadian online travel retailer that is at least $1 less than the fare on your Air Canada flight, the airline will offer a $50 credit as well as the fare difference for each passenger. Some stipulations apply which you can find clearly outlined at aircanada.com.

Refund Policy

Most of these tickets can't be changed or refunded. But, Air Canada states on the website that you may be able to receive a credit in the amount you paid for a future purchase for travel completed within one year of the original date of issue. You must contact the original place of purchase to find out your options. If you bought your ticket through a travel agency, contact them directly.

How Bereavement Fares Work

Air Canada offers reduced bereavement fares in the event of death or imminent death of an immediate family member. Imminent death is classified as someone who experienced a heart attack, is in intensive care or is in the final stages of cancer and will inevitably die. Bereavement fares are offered only on certain international flights. They do not apply for flights within Canada or travel to and from the U.S. or Hong Kong.
