Get The Best Price From Comcast

Never assume cable company advertised fees are the lowest available.

Comcast is one of the largest companies offering cable television, Internet and phone services. As with any other business, Comcast must attract and keep its customers happy in order to thrive. An important way to do this is to make its services affordable for its target market. Since most people in every socioeconomic bracket use the services offered by Comcast, securing a price that works with your monthly budget is a win for both you and the company. Lowering your monthly bill can save you hundreds of dollars over the course of a year.

Instructions

1. Sign up during a promotion. Comcast regularly advertises deals for both new and existing customers. You can find out which special deals are being offered in your area by visiting the Promotions page on Comcast's website, which is linked in the Resources Section of this article.

2. Bundle your services. Paying different providers separately for different cable, Internet and phone accounts often makes your total expenses higher. Getting the best price is frequently a matter of signing up for two or three services at once or adding on to an existing service.

3. Lengthen the term of your contract. Signing up for a year-long contract as opposed to a monthly contract will usually give you a lower per-month term. Be aware that breaking these contracts may lead to penalties, so only sign up for this option if you are sure you will still be using the service in a year.

4. Research deals both by phone and through the website. Many deals are exclusive online offers and won't be available if you call. Conversely, if you find a website hard to navigate, an account representative will help explain your options after being alerted to your specific cost concerns. If you talk to an account representative that is trying to put together an affordable package for you, remember to ask if the same services would be cheaper if you signed up online.

5. Arm yourself with information about competing offers. If you are a new customer or are switching from a competitor, mention the competitors' price if it is lower. It is the account rep's job to lure customers away from the competitor, and they will often match that price. If you are an existing customer trying to negotiate a lower monthly bill, mentioning that you are thinking of switching to a competitor will be a great motivational tool in finding you a better deal in order to keep your business.
