Write Marketing Collateral

A well-written marketing brochure can help move a reader to action.

Marketing materials can be very expensive to produce, so it's important that they be as clear as possible to have their desired effect. While there are many design elements you can use to grab the reader's attention, a well-written marketing brochure can move someone to action, giving you the opportunity to earn a customer for life. However, if your material doesn't accurately portray the product you're selling or it's not compelling, the money you spent to produce them was wasted.

Instructions

1. Make a list of questions your customers might have before deciding to buy your product. These are the points your marketing collateral should cover. Write the pieces of your collateral as succinctly as possible, using direct words and phrases, for example, "buy" instead of "purchase."

2. Include information about your product and the topic in general. For instance, if you're selling cookware, include handy recipes or cooking tips. This will make your marketing material something the reader will want to keep around. It will also successfully keep your product and company name at the forefront of the customer's mind when he needs to buy cooking supplies.

3. Mark sections of your marketing materials so readers can easily navigate the brochure to find what they're looking for. Use headlines, bold fonts, bullet points or other visual clues to highlight areas you want readers to see.

4. Ask the reader to take action at the close of the materials. The effort you're putting into writing your marketing collateral is useless if you don't move people to action.

5. Edit your marketing collateral before you print it. Your materials represent your company, so writing should be clean and free of misspellings and poor grammar. Use spell check and, if possible, ask a friend or other business associate to read it before you go to print.
