2. Provide excellent customer service. Call people back when you get their messages. Be honest and knowledgeable about the different types of paints and techniques available. Know approximately how long a certain type of job will take. Have a good attitude about work, and treat the homeowners with respect. Teach your employees to do the same.
3. Have a truck to carry all of your gear, and all the materials and equipment needed for each job. Do not waste time running to get things that you forgot, or driving to the home improvement store for things that are needed. Save time by knowing where everything is, and by purchasing in bulk when necessary.
4. Use the Small Business Administration to help your business grow. They have services, tools and resources to help the small business owner. Be sure that all licenses or permits are renewed when they should be.
5. Learn new techniques when appropriate, particularly for indoor jobs. Figure out which products are environmentally friendly.
