1. Set up a website domain. You will want to begin by finding a URL. This is the address that you type into the box at the top and is recognized because it will look like: www.yourdomainname.com. There are a variety of domain names that are available, as well as companies that will host these names for you.


2. Decide on services or products. Your website will be set up differently, depending on what your business is about. If you have services, you will want to design a place on the web that offers these with the ability to have a secure place for customers. If you have products, you will want to set up an online commerce store.


3. Begin your website design. Your website design will be based on whether you have services or products. Begin with putting the domain name at the top of the website. This is called your banner. On the side, you will want to have a menu. This will include a directory of where your potential customers can go to look at products or services on your website. All of the pages should have this as the main frame with content in between. You will want to use software such as Site Template Builder or Dreamweaver in order to begin this process. You can also hire a designer to put everything together for you if you are not sure use these programs.


4. Put up your secure areas. You can use several programs to make sure that customers buy from you. For example, if you are selling products, you can list the products with "Buy Now" buttons. This will take the customers to an area such as PayPal to arrange payment. Afterwards, you just send them the product or provide the services.


5. Start advertising. Once you have the design and process for your domain set up, you can start advertising. You will want to begin by listing yourself in the search engines. You can do this through website submission software or through manual submission by going to the different websites. You can then continue to advertise through techniques such as building keywords, linking to other sites or even blogging.
