Make Years Of Service Awards

Achievement awards boost morale. They are attractive and tangible reminders of gratitude. However, they can also seem extremely daunting to put together. The good thing, they are not hard to make. With a few simple steps, you can put together a professional looking years of service award using just Microsoft Word. Prepare to wow your coworkers and yourself with your talent.

Instructions

1. Set up your page. Awards are normally done in landscape as opposed to portrait, which is the default. You will find the tab to change from portrait to landscape on the Page Layout tab. Here you can also change the margins to 1-inch all the way around.

2. Create your border. This is also on the Page Layout tab in the Page Background section. You may choose to use basic line borders which will not compete with what you place toward the center of the certificate or the company logo, or you can use something more artistic such as stars, a common sign of achievement.

3. Insert your Word Art. You can do this through clicking on the 'Insert Tab', Word Art is found in the Text section. Since this is a certificate celebrating years of service that is what deserves the most space on the certificate. Once you have decided on what to say, format the Word Art to be in the center of the page by right clicking on the Word Art itself and then selecting 'Format'. Choosing a horizontal alignment of 'center' will allow the program to automatically set your Word Art in the center of the certificate. Sample Text: "Distinguished Service Award"

4. Add your text. Sample text: "This award is given to [Space for Person's Name] for ____ years of exemplary service." Make sure you include places for the name, title, and signature of the immediate supervisor/authority figure to add the official air to the certificate. If you are going to reuse this certificate as a template, leave spaces for both the name and the number of years you are celebrating.

5. Add some art. This would be the time to add the company logo if this is done for a corporate reason. However, if you would prefer not to use that, Word has an extensive library of Clip Art including things like trophies, stars, and ribbons all of which are heavily associated with achievement.
