Freecycle is an online, nonprofit movement that is used by individuals to recycle items they no longer need, as well as find items that they are looking for. Many freecycling groups have formed worldwide; while each group has its own specific rules, there are several guidelines for use with each. Join a freecycle group to turn your trash into another person's treasure.
Instructions
1. Locate a Freecycle group in your area. There are several websites designed to allow you to do this, such as Freecycle.org, where you enter your city and state and are directed to a Freecycle group near you.
2. Navigate through the messages posted on the Freecycle group for your area. Posts are easily identifiable; for example, posts beginning with the word "offer" are offering items to give away, while the word "wanted" implies that someone is searching for an item.
3. Get acquainted with the rules of the Freecycle group near you; these should be listed on a "Rules" or "Frequently Asked Questions" page.
4. Click on the subject of a post to read it. Click "reply" to post a response to a post that is listing an item you are interested in, or if you would like to give an item that is needed. Send the poster an email regarding their post if the listing includes an email address.
5. Request, or offer, your own items by posting on the Freecycle board for your area.
