FIT--The Fashion Institute of Technology
The Fashion Institute of Technology has a degree program in Fashion Designing. It teaches students the fundamentals of the field, such as professional draping, pattern making, sewing techniques and material analysis. The Art Institute offers classes in many artistic fields. Parsons the New School for Design
Parsons was founded in 1896, and its alumni include many well-known names in the fashion industry. The New School for Design offers two courses in Fashion Designs--the AAS (Associate in Applied Science) and an undergraduate course. In the AAS, students are prepared to make a jump-start in the fashion marketplace with a ready focus on design. From concept to production to market requirements, they are taught the skills and language of the fashion world. Parsons undergraduate courses teach students to confront the challenges of the fashion industry while they cultivate their skills and style through a course in concept development, studio methods, fashion drawing and digital fashion drawing. Students also interact with designer critics and participate in an annual fashion show.
